One cable, two functions: Alpine M-BUS to Ai-NET BUS Converter or replacement CD Changer Cable.
Did you know that they are Alpine Ai-NET CD Changers that also support M-BUS protocols? So, if you have an Alpine M-BUS headunit (CD or Cassette) with CD Changer controls, the ALP/Ai-M15 lets you connect an Alpine Dual BUS Changer. The second thing you should know is that the two BUS systems use different connectors and this cable does the conversion for you.
The ALP/Ai-M15 cable primary functions include:
1. Enable the connection of an ALPINE M-BUS Radio to Alpine Dual BUS capable Ai-Net Changer. Alpine Dual Bus Ai-Net Changers work in both Ai-NET and M-BUS applications. A switch located inside the Changer magazine opening allows the user to select between the two BUS systems (Ai-Net or M-BUS).
2. Replaces the Ai-Net CD Changer Cable in M-BUS Application. Unlike the KCA-130B (ALP/Ai-M) adapter which requires an Ai-NET to Ai-NET CD Changer cable, the ALP/Ai-M15 is 15ft. long with an 8-pin connector one one end (connects to the Alpine M-BUS headunit), and a male Ai-NET plug on the other (connects to the CD Changer).
Other uses include connecting an Alpine Dual BUS Ai-NET CD Changer to many Alpine derived factory installed radios in BMW, Chrysler, Honda, Ford, Mazda, Mercedes, Toyota, Volvo, VW etc. ( An aftermarket CD Changer interface such as the CHRY02/PC-ALP, MAZ/PC-ALP, ABMW35, BMWALPX, AAi-MAZ, TOY/PC-ALP, VW/PC-ALP (sold separately) is also required.
Measuring approximately 15 ft. the ALP/Ai-M15 has a Male Ai-Net plug (connects to the Ai-Net CD Changer) on one end and a Male 8-Pin DIN Plug (connects to Alpine CDM- or TDM- M-BUS Radios or to the optional CD Changer interface) on the other.
These CD Changers support DUAL BUS PROTOCOLS: CHA-S634, CHA-S614, CHA-S607, CHA-S604, VPA-S001 (see warning below)
1. This cable does not allow a M-BUS Radio to control an Ai-Net CD Changer.
2. Alpine CHA-S1214, CHA-S1204, CHA-S605, MDA-5051, CHA-S624 are *NOT* DUAL-BUS Capable and can only be used with Alpine aftermarket Ai-Net Head units (i.e. CDA-, TDA-, MDA-, iVA-, etc)
