Functions that many people have come to rely on, such as; volume up and down, radio station tuning, CD song selection and several others are now available from the steering wheel controls to those who choose to upgrade their original factory radio. Prior to the release of the PESWICAN2 (version 1.1.2b ) upgrading the original factory radio in CAN-BUS equipped vehicles, (Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Mercedes Benz, Mitsubishi, VW) meant you’d lose the safety and convenience of the steering wheel mounted radio controls. Now you can retain the same level of control without having to take your hands off the wheel, hunt for a tiny button on the radio or fumble with a remote control. The same buttons on the steering wheel can continue to serve the same functions on your new aftermarket radio. Install that top-of-the-line radio that has built-in navigation, plays video and can also play 1000’s of mp3 songs from a built-in hard-drive and lose nothing!
The product accepts CANBUS data commands issued from the steering wheel controls and converts them for use by Peripheral’s line of steering wheel control interfaces (i.w SWI-X (Universal) , PESWIV (universal video), SWI-RC (Alpine, Kenwood, JVC, Clarion,Pioneer, Sony, Jensen, Dual, Avant, Boyo) or PESWIECL (Eclipse) etc) to interface the factory steering wheel controls to a wide range of aftermarket radios with wireless remote control input. (must be used with one of the above interfaces). Functions that many people have come to rely on, such as volume up and down, radio station tuning, CD song selection and several others are now available from the steering wheel controls to those who choose to upgrade their original factory radio. These devices then transmit the user commands to the particular radio. After a short programming session where all commands are mapped to the steering wheel controls, the unit is ready for operation.
COMPATIBILITY & NOTES: [ Please read and click these links prior to purchasing this part ]

2. Click here for vehicle specific INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS (read this page first as it may exclude your vehicle or aftermarket radio)
3. INSTALLATION DIAGRAM

The PESWICAN2 is not a standalone device. It MUST BE used in conjunction with an optional Steering Wheel Interface module PESWIX, SWI-RC, SWI-PS, PESWIECL to retain steering wheel controls.
For Chrysler, Jeep & Dodge: If a C2R-CHY/2/3 radio replacement interface is used, the C2R-CHY/2/3’s Blue/White wire must be connected to the radio’s remote trigger wire (usually Blue/White) and the radio MUST be installed and on during programming. The information display in the gauge cluster (if present) should also show the compass during programming.
For Mercedes Benz: When programming the SWC buttons, Audio should be displayed on the information display in the gauge cluster. For older E (W210) and CLK (W208) vehicles the display should be blank. Mercedes-Can-2 connector is located behind the CD changer in the center of the dash. The Can + wire color is Brown/Red and CAN - is Brown. The wires are next to each other and should be twisted pair. The Mercedes-Can-3 connector is located at the radio control module (tuner/amplifier). The radio antenna will identify that you are in the correct location (passenger foot well in case of SLK). The Mercedes-Can-4 connector is a sub connector inside of the Dock-n-Lock radio connector. The CAN + wire is Brown/Red and the CAN - wire is Brown. These wires are twisted pair and felt tape may need to be removed in order to locate.
For all VW, Audi and Porsche vehicles listed. The PESWICAN2 also features a data controlled Accessory Output. This is very useful in these vehicles as there is no Accessory output located at the factory radio. Utilizes Keysense features which allows the radio to continue to play when the vehicle is turned off and the key is in the full back position. Accessory will stay on for approximately 10 minuets once the key is in the full back position.
