The VW8-HAR converts the 8-pin Mini ISO connector on select 1998-Up Audi and VW Radios to a 12-pin Molex plug. The VW8-HAR converter harness will allow customers to connect VW or Audi factory or aftermarket Add-Ons (i.e. iPod adapters, Auxiliary input adapters etc) directly to the radio instead of the pre-wired cable in trunk, hatch, under front seat, glove box etc and avoid the possibility of inherent noise problems with the factory CD Changer cable.
The VW8-HAR is 6 inches long and plugs into the 8-PIN ISO connector (C3) on the back of the compatible radios.
Compatible with:
► Audi: A2, A3, A4, A6, A8, TT with Concert, Concert II, Symphony*, Symphony II*, Chorus II, Navi Plus/2, etc
► VW: Beta 5, Gamma V, Beetle, Sound II, Navi MFD, Navi MCD with original VW CD changer or Phatbox, Delta, Monsoon, Premium 4 etc
► Skoda RNS, MCD, MFD, MS501/402, Symphony* etc
Here is one instance in which the VW8-HAR is used: You have a PIE VW-AUX Auxiliary input adapter which connects to the pre-wired 12-PIN CD Changer plug in trunk, hatch. Once installed, your audio device will have to reside in the trunk OR you will have to run an audio cable from the trunk to the dash area. Instead, you may purchase the VW8-HAR and connect the VW-AUX behind the radio and a short audio cable (i.e. iS335 kit) from behind the radio.
Footnotes:
* Symphony radios have a solid 20-PIN plug which makes it impossible to connect the 8-PIN ISO blue Plug. To resolve this you must also purchase the AA3-HAR
