Product Description: The XA-300 Unilink™ Auxiliary input adapter allows users to play external devices through a compatible Sony Receiver. (Sony Receivers must have CD Changer Controls for the XA-300 to work). With 2 line level inputs and a USB input for hooking up a computer, the XA-300 gives customers the ability to enhance their system with virtually any line level device. The "Aux 1" has a headphone jack and volume control that plays whatever is plugged into "Aux 1" through the headphones, even when the system is off. It features a changer pass-through so it can be used along with a changer without any additional accessories. There's a universal serial bus (USB) input, allowing playback from a PC through any CD control Sony UniLink stereo system.

The USB connection on the XA-300 is designed specifically to allow audio to play through a car stereo system using a laptop computer as a source. It cannot be used in the same way with other USB components as in personal digital assistants (PDA), portable audio devices, and other types of audio and/or digital components. These items are not masters, just slaves, so they can't work for each other!
