What is an auxiliary input adapter and why should i buy one?
Portable audio products are everywhere, reflecting demand from active people all over the world to take their music with them. MP3's, portable DVD's compact stereos etc, let you enjoy music at the beach, at a picnic, or in the back yard and in your car-- Enter the FRD03-AUX100. This device will convert the 16-pin Rear Seat Entertainment (RSE) plug on the "CD6" headunit in select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles into an auxiliary input. With this adapter installed you can listen connect any single audio product such as [iPod, MP3, DVD, Satellite Radio, X-BOX, VHS player, and others], to Ford "Phase II" style "CD6" radios. Ford "Phase II" radios must have a 16 and 24 pin connector on the back and a CD/AUX button [NOT an AUX button] on the front ( if the radio does not have this button, the FRD03-AUX100 will not work). The FRD03-AUX100 plug-n-play connectors allows direct connection without cutting or splicing.
Compatibility & Notes: ( please read before purchasing this part )
1. Compatible with the select CD6 (6-disc in-dash) headunits with Rear Seat Entertainment capability --- [ radio is identified by having a "CD/AUX" button, not "AUX" on the face].
2. Some radios will have a "CD/AUX" and "SAT" button. These radios are SAT Ready and NOT COMPATIBLE with the FRD03-AUX100. See the FRD03-AUX/S applications.
3. Display on radio will show "CD/DVD" and the audio device will be heard on the speakers
4. Will not work if vehicle is equipped with factory Rear Seat Entertainment and/or factory Satellite Radio
5. Vehicles listed above must have a radio with both a 16 and 24 pin connectors. (radios that have only the 24 and 8-pin connectors are not compatible)
