What is an auxiliary input adapter and why should i buy one?

This device will convert the 20-pin plug on the "CD6" 6 disc-in dash radio with RSE capability in select Ford/Lincoln/Mercury vehicles into an auxiliary input. RSE capable radios will have a "CD/AUX" button (if the radio does not have this button, the FRDN-AUX100 will not work). With this adapter installed you can connect any single audio product such as [iPod, MP3, DVD, Satellite Radio, X-BOX, VHS player, and others], to Fords "CD6" 6-disc-in dash Radio with Rear Seat Entertainment capability and this
20-PIN connector on the back of the radio.
Compatibility & Notes: ( please read before purchasing this part )
1. Compatible with CD6 (6-disc in-dash) headunits with Rear Seat Entertainment capability.These radio must have "CD/AUX" button on the faceplate.
2. Display on radio will show "CD/DVD" and the audio will be heard on the speakers
3. Will not work if vehicle is already equipped with OEM (factory) RSE system
4. Not compatible with Navigation systems
5. Radios must also have this 20-PIN connector on the back of the radio.
