Install a Clarion 2nd Gen. radio (8-pins) and retain 1st Gen. (6-pin) remote control without rewiring.
To replace an older 1st Gen. 6-pin radio (e.g. CMD4 etc.), with a 2nd Gen. 8-pin radio (e.g. CMD8 etc.); and retain use of a 1st Gen. remote control; the CCUMRA1 adapter cable is required. The CCUMRA1 is required because all Clarion 1st Gen. marine radios, wired remotes, and extension cables manufactured between 1998 to 2008 use/have a 6-pin connection. But as of 2009, all Clarion 2nd Gen. marine radios (e.g. M309 etc), wired remote controls (e.g. NW2 etc.); and remote extension cables (e.g. MW-RXC-RET); use/have an 8-pin connection. If replacing a 1st Gen. radio (6-pin) with a 2nd Gen. radio (8-pin); and retaining old remote control (1st Gen. is not possible, but for less than $50, the CCUMRA1 adapter cable makes it possible to upgrade the radio and retain the 1st Gen. wired remote control in upper deck, transom, dive platform etc.
Warning: If the remote control has an LCD screen (e.g. M301RC etc.); the display function will go blank; but the buttons (e.g. FF, RW, Pause, Play etc.) remain functional.
» Use to connect a 2nd Gen. radio (e.g. CMV1, CMD6, M505, M309, CMS1 etc.) and retain 1st Gen. remote (e.g. CMRC1, CMRC2, M101RC M102RC etc.) -- See drop-down and application guide for full listing.
» Boat must have a 1st Gen. 6-pin marine remote extension cable (e.g. M101RC) or 6-pin splitter cable (M101RYC)
» Mute button on non-LCD remotes (e.g. CMRC2 SB, CMRC2-BSS) may or may not function.
» LCD remote Track number, radio station information etc. will no longer display but function buttons (track up/down, Vol, etc.) remain operational.- Don't ignore this warning!
» IR remote signal pass-through (e.g. MF-1 etc.) is not supported
